Update [Un]-Statement~

This is not a traditional “Artist’s Statement”, though this page is where such a statement will soon reside, instead this is a plea for understanding in the absence of such a statement, and of content in other portions of the site.

You see, this a busy time of the year for me already, and I am learning and writing the HTML myself so it’s also a bit of a process as well, you know, doing & undoing, doing unnecessary stuff.

But I have already learned and written an enormous amount of stuff over the last few years on-line, so much of it is a matter of organization & execution, I hope it’ll progress quickly & I do hope you’ll check back~

Compliments, and Credit where it’s due~

Many times when I’ve been set up somewhere showing my jewelry and crystals, someone has said something like “Wow, nice crystals” as if it is complimentary, and it is, but only because there are some aspects I can actually take credit for.
So I say, “Thanks, but I can only take credit for tracking them down, choosing them, and making them wearable, the credit for their actual beauty lies elsewhere, God or Mother Nature depending on what you prefer”. Tracking them down, making them wearable, and taking care of the other necessary stuff that works toward this is no small bit of work by the way.
However fine this work of mine could ever become isn’t a mote by comparison to the beauty that already exists in our world though; knowing this, as an artist I feel the finest thing I can do is to bring people’s attention to, show off & compliment this natural beauty.
When someone says something like “I like your jewelry, the stones are so naked”, I normally say “Thanks, I’m very proud of what I do, but not so proud I’d cover-up a perfectly fine stone to show it off”.

About me & Pink & Green

Many of the pieces I make are Pink and/or Green, these colors both correspond to the Heart Chakra.

This is one thing I do deliberately,
though this only started after I noticed one day that 8 of the last 10 pieces I had made featured both Pink and Green.

I took a look at them and thought:
"wow, I guess there's something going on with this"
(but I knew what it was).

So I noticed,
and this particular thing became (somewhat) deliberate.

You see, most of the stuff I make really is intuitively inspired,
I wouldn't limit myself to only things I understand with a deliberate purpose,
I just make what I feel like or "get" and then observe the result.

You could say I let the materials speak to me.

I believe this openness makes my work much more on many levels that I could possibly create "on purpose",
though part of being open is learning from what I have done too.

This is how I work.

Even my style of wrapping,
the architectural elements of my wire work have developed in this way.

Not really knowing where I am going,
picking up the things I like on The Way.

Enjoy the Crystals ;-)
